Paul Marcone, President and Founder

 

Ox Hill Leadership Tours is owned and operated by Paul Marcone.  Paul has 39 years of leadership experience in the public and private sectors. 

  

Paul worked for 13 years on Capitol Hill serving in many positions including chief of staff, legislative director, press secretary and legislative assistant.  Paul also worked as the Charter Coordinator for the City of New York, chief of staff for the director of the NYC Mayor's Office of Operations, director of communications for the National Law Enforcement Officers Fund and Vice President for Administration at the Russ Reid Company.  For the past 21 years Paul has owned and operated his own government relations firm, Paul Marcone and Associates.

From the time he was a school boy, Paul has been fascinated by the Civil War.  For the past four decades Paul has conducted in-depth research on the Civil War and has visited Civil War battlefields such as Gettysburg, Antietam and Manassas on hundreds of occasions -- conducting informal tours for friends and family, and formal seminars for employees, colleagues and clients.

  

Formally established in 2008, Ox Hill Leadership Tours grew out of Paul's first- -hand experience in providing leadership seminars for his employees and colleagues, as well as his desire to combine his passion for and knowledge of Civil War history with his years of management experience.  Paul has earned a BA in political science from Fordham University and MA in comparative politics from American University.  Paul is the father of four grown children and lives in Chantilly, VA with his wife Denise.

“Jim” Anderson is an expert in the military leadership and strategy of the American Civil War.  Over the past seven years, he has conducted over 200 training seminars on the battlefields of Gettysburg, Antietam, and Manassas, with an emphasis on leadership, communications and intelligence.  He also volunteers his time and expertise on the Civil War to local civic, youth and church organizations.

 

Mr. Anderson has an extensive background in leadership, management and national security, having spent 30 years with the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Air Force.  He has enhanced his life-long interest in history and military strategy through academic study and frequent visits to battlefields around the world – from Gettysburg to Culloden; from Okinawa to Rorke’s Drift.  His interest in the Civil War grew out of his experiences growing up on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line; and was enhanced by his discovery that his ancestors wore both the “blue” and the “gray.”

 

As a CIA officer and Senior Intelligence Service manager and leader, Mr. Anderson served in a number of highly complex and sensitive positions, including assignments in Africa, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.  His experience includes the directorship of an executive development training course for mid-career CIA officers, in which he designed the curriculum; taught some segments; and handled all logistics, agendas, and travel arrangements to a number of Agency and contractor facilities across the U.S. and overseas.   While in the Air Force, he served as the chief of air intelligence operations for a squadron of F-111D fighter bombers.

 

Mr. Anderson has earned a BA in history from Rhodes College and MA in history from the University of Memphis.  He also has done post-graduate work at the University of Oklahoma.  He is a member of the American Historical Association, the Mosby Heritage Area Association and the Loudoun County and Bull Run Civil War Roundtables.  He currently lives in Ashburn, Virginia.
